Gafcon was selected in 2013 to provide project and construction management staff augmentation services under Proposition S and Z Bond Programs for San Diego County’s largest school district.
Gafcon collaborated with District consultants to develop a Sustainability Implementation Study Report which reviewed the District’s 13 “Dream Big Ideas” and the implementation costs resulting in the District’s approval to proceed. The team also assisted with writing several chapters of the Council for Greater City Schools report, “Reversing the Cycle of Deterioration in the Nation’s Public School Buildings”.
Gafcon developed the plan to accelerate the installation of air-conditioning in approximately 2000 of the District’s hottest classrooms. It involved expedited architectural/engineering assessments, planning and design development, and installation on off hours. Additional services include communications and outreach, project controls, estimating, engineering, security assessments, master planning, construction management, oversight of the District’s i21 Interactive Classroom Initiative, and development of the District’s web-based contractor prequalification application software.
