In 1992, the City of Coronado hired Gafcon to assist in the management of their new $60 million capital improvement program to replace older, cramped municipal facilities. For 11 years, Gafcon was asked to manage the development of many projects including the Police Department, Golf Course and Clubhouse, Department of Engineering Public Facilities Complex, 16,000 sf Skate Park, Glorietta Bay Civic Center, Marina Building/Yacht Club promenade, Animal Care Facility, and the reconstruction of the Chart House Restaurant located on Glorietta Bay.
Gafcon provided a full range of program management services including RFP preparation and response review; partnering session leadership; budgeting and estimating; scheduling; project controls; change order management; claims dispute resolution and claims avoidance; shop drawing and submittal management; public works contract law research; chair coordination meetings; coordination of technical inspection services; labor compliance, coordination with stakeholders; project close-out administration; and move-in planning and coordination.
In 2015, the City of Coronado selected Gafcon as their project manager/construction manager for the new City Hall and Town Hall as well as other Del Mar Capital Improvement projects. Gafcon services include design management, program management and staff augmentation services for the new City Hall (approximately 9,250 sf), Town Hall (approximately 3,200 sf), parking, and public plaza.
“Gafcon has a staff with a significant amount of experience in a number of disciplines allowing it to call upon that experience to meet any situation.”
